Today was not only a great day here in Redmond, sunny and hot, a gorgeous end of Summer afternoon, but it was also a celebration of Windows Vista Release Candidate 1.
Also note that the RC 1 of the .NET Framework 3.0 is now
posted!
Nearly everyone took a break from their Vista work during the afternoon to get one of the cool frisbees (well, I was busy with the camera so I did not get one), food, and hang out for a while to soak the sun and occasion.
A great milestone for everyone involved. As I went around the field, I came across the different teams hanging around together (Audio/Video stack, Internet Explorer, Media Player, Avalon). Here are a few folks from Avalon with their frisbee.
In all it was a very relaxing afternoon, with music and food.
Tomorrow I am back at triaging bugs and updating my machines with a newer self-host build. It is a race to the end now.
I will write another post on what external developers should be doing to help Windows Vista ship, but it starts with downloading the Release Candidate (both for Windows Vista and .NET Framework 3.0).
Congratulations to all the Windows Vista teams, SDK folks, and operations, as well as the community and early adopters for their self-hosting effort and feedback.
Windows Vista Rocks!
My congratulations to everyone at Microsoft involved in Vista and .NET 3.0 development for getting Release
